Investment Manager

The principals of the Investment Manager are experienced professionals who combine extensive knowledge of international and local finance markets and practise with experience in making and developing forestry and timberland investments. In addition to the individuals detailed below, the Investment Manager also has a variety of individuals providing experience in such areas as tax, accounting and compliance in addition to core forestry experience.

The Forest Company has entered into the Investment Management Agreement with the Investment Manager Timber Capital under which the Investment Manager will be responsible for sourcing, evaluating, negotiating, completing and monitoring investments, in compliance with our Investment Policy and subject to the overall supervision of the Board. The Investment Manager will also advise the Board on the proposed divestment of investments and will be authorised to give effect to their implementation.

J. Harald Örneberg, Executive Chairman

J. Harald Örneberg has been a principal and shareholder of the Investment Manager since co-founding the firm in June 2007. Prior to forming the Investment Manager, Mr. Örneberg was the Founder and CEO of ORN Capital. From 1999 to 2005 Mr. Örneberg was manager of the ORN Event Fund and from 2002-2007 the manager of the ORN Multi-Strategy Fund. Prior to forming ORN Capital, from 1997 to July 1999, Mr. Örneberg served as Vice President in the Merger Arbitrage group of Salomon Smith Barney. From 1992 to 1997, he was an investment manager at Industri Kapital (originally Enskilda Ventures, a division of SEB). From 1990 to 1992, Mr. Örneberg worked in the Mergers and Acquisitions group of Enskilda Securities, also a division of SEB. From 1986 to 1988, Mr. Örneberg was a Financial Analyst in the investment banking division at Salomon Brothers. Mr. Örneberg received an MBA from The Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College in 1990 and a B.Sc. in Monetary Economics from the London School of Economics in 1986. Mr. Örneberg has extensive experience in the Swedish forest industry, where he has managed forestry assets for the past 20 years.

Ana Miranda, CFO

Ana Miranda joined as CFO of the Investment Manager in July 2015.  Prior to joining the Investment Manager, Mrs. Miranda held the position of Investwood’s CFO, a  Portuguese group of companies producing wood fibre boards and cement-wood boards sold to more than 40 countries, where she was for 5 years.  There she was responsible for all aspects of accounting and financial management, coordinating and supervising the accounting, treasury and controlling divisions of the Group. Main areas under her responsibility  were financial planning and cash-flow management, budgeting and business performance analysis.  Previously, she had been CFO at Sacoor Brothers, a global brand in retail fashion stores.  Her 8 years of experience as an auditor in KPMG gave her a deep and broad experience in industry and services companies lifting up her capabilities as a financial executive in the years that followed.  She has a 5 year degree in Economics from Lisbon School of Economics and Management (ISEG) and is a member of the Portuguese Chartered Accountant Chamber since 2006, with 20 years of experience in the financial area now.

Johan Larsson, CEO

Johan Larsson has been a principal of the Investment Manager since July 2008. Mr. Larsson has in excess of 14 years experience in the forestry and financial sectors. Mr. Larsson has worked as a senior forest investment specialist at a private equity firm that is part of the Louis Dreyfus Group. From 2003 to 2007, Mr. Larsson worked as a consultant at Pöyry Forest Industry Consulting, the leading global management consulting company providing services to clients operating in the value chain from forest resources to the end-consumer. As part of the Forest Team Mr Larsson was based in London and supervised, managed and was involved in projects in Europe, Latin America, Africa and China. From 2001 to 2003, he worked as a sales representative at Baro Wood, a Swedish sawmill, where he was responsible for the launch of a new product line as well as sales of the existing product portfolio. Mr. Larsson is an owner and manager of forest assets in Sweden and his family has been in the forestry business in Sweden for 70 years, including saw milling, harvesting and forest management. Mr. Larsson holds an MSc in forestry and a major in business economics.
